Whether you're designing a postcard, a brochure, or a magazine, our prepress department is in charge of checking the files to make sure they are ready to print.
Our expert specialists are ready to assist you when creating print-ready files. We take pride in our abilities from preflighting files to printing your job, making suggestions to help keep the projects moving forward and on schedule.
Preflighting is when our prepress technicians make sure that files contain all the necessary elements to ensure a successful print run. Images are checked for the proper resolution, spot & process ink colors are set up correctly, all fonts are included, and all layout elements like crop marks, bleeds, and margins are included. Preflighting is essential for catching potential printing issues at the very beginning of the process while corrections can still be made.
A proof is a representation of how the finished work will appear once printed. Smaller or non-critical color projects can be proofed in a PDF format. Since PDFs are electronic files, they can be emailed for a speedy approval. A contract proof is a high-resolution inkjet representation of the project. It will ensure we are in agreement of the desired outcome. If your project involves any type of finishing, like folding or binding, we will also produce a low-resolution proof to show that the order of pages, trims, and folds are as expected.
Whenever you're ready, simply upload your files to our FTP site. Our prepress team will download your files to our network of Mac and Windows PCs for preflighting using Pitstop Pro.
Upon a successful flight, we'll send you a digital proof via our Kodak Insite prepress portal for your immediate review. For color-critical projects or those with finishing services, we will output physical proofs for your approval. High-resolution contract proofs are produced on our Epson 9900 inkjet system with Proof Master certified software. Low-resolution proofs for finishing and assembly are produced on our Canon Pro 4000s inkjet system.
Once the proofs are approved to print, our prepress experts send the files to our Kodak Prinergy RIP that also creates the impositions and traps color for the printing press. Prinergy files are then released to our Javelin 9600SN computer-to-plate (CTP) system to automatically output printing plates for all of our various printing press sizes and specifications.
